Pavilion Malls Goes Pink In Support Of Breast Cancer Awareness

This Pink October, Pavilion Malls is rallying its three Kuala Lumpur destinations, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Damansara Heights and Pavilion Bukit Jalil, behind Pink Unity, a women-led cancer support group under the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM), as part of Fashion in Motion, Pavilion’s month-long fashion festival presented in partnership with MODA (Malaysia Official Designers’ Association), running from 1 to 31 October 2026.

The initiative brings together a citywide walk, a mobile health clinic and a month-long fundraising drive, uniting Pavilion’s malls behind a cause that reaches far beyond retail.

Breast cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Malaysian women, with NCSM estimating that 1 in 19 Malaysian women are at risk of developing the disease in their lifetime.

It was against this backdrop that Pavilion Malls chose to lend its spaces, and its reach, to a cause it sees as larger than any single campaign.

76 Breast Cancer Survivors Walk Through Kuala Lumpur

On 10 October, 76 breast cancer survivors from Pink Unity gathered at Pavilion Damansara Heights’ Centre Court, accompanied by ballerinas and a sea of pink umbrellas that lined their path, before setting off on a symbolic walk to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

From there, the group boarded the Pusat Bandar Damansara MRT, turning an ordinary train ride into a moving show of solidarity for fellow commuters, before continuing on foot through the streets of Bukit Bintang.

Their journey ended at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur’s Crystal Fountain, one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, where the 76 survivors gathered once more in a symbolic closing moment that organisers called The Unstoppable Pink, drawing shoppers, tourists and passersby who stopped to watch and show their support.

In total, 161 participants took part in the walk, including the 76 survivors.

Seeing 76 survivors walk together through the heart of Kuala Lumpur, and so many people stopping to cheer them on, was one of the most moving moments of this campaign.

“Their strength was impossible to miss, and it carried a simple message to every woman watching: early detection matters, and no one has to face this alone. If this walk gets even a few more women to book a screening or start that conversation at home, then it has done what we hoped it would. – said Dato’ Joyce Yap, CEO (Retail) of Pavilion Malls.

Later that day, Pavilion Damansara Heights kept the spirit of the walk alive for shoppers who could not take part in person.

A Charity Hair Cut initiative, sponsored by R Beaute, invited shoppers to make a donation of their choice in exchange for a complimentary haircut or styling session.

Free Breast Examinations at Pavilion Bukit Jalil from 23–25 October

From 23 to 25 October, Pavilion Bukit Jalil will host the MURNI Mobile Clinic, a mobile breast screening unit run by the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA), which will be parked at the mall’s Piazza alongside the Style Your Way Lifestyle Market.

The clinic will give shoppers the chance to go for a free clinical breast examination and pick up breast health education aboard its distinctive pink mobile unit, all as part of the weekend’s festivities.

“At Pavilion Malls, we believe our retail destinations can do more than bring people together for shopping and lifestyle experiences. Through Fashion in Motion, we are using our platform to give breast cancer survivors greater visibility and encourage the public to be part of a meaningful cause. From the solidarity walk through Kuala Lumpur to fundraising and breast health awareness initiatives across our malls, we want to turn awareness into action and make it easier for shoppers to show their support,” said Dato’ Joyce.

Pink Umbrella Fundraising Initiative Aims to Raise RM68,000

Tying all three malls together throughout the month is the Pink Umbrella Fundraising Initiative.

Priced at RM68 each and available at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Damansara Heights and Pavilion Bukit Jalil, each umbrella purchase channels 100% of its proceeds directly to Pink Unity, with the initiative aiming to raise RM68,000 by the end of October.

Fashion in Motion, and The Unstoppable Pink, reflect Pavilion Malls’ continued commitment to using its platforms for causes that matter beyond retail.
